Chocolate Cake with a Secret Ingredient

The secret ingredient isn't weed, first of all.  :)

I got this recipe from a food blog.  Check it out!

A Tasty Love Story

OK, the secret ingredient? Black beans! And I swear, you would NEVER know they were in it.  It makes a dark, moist cake that's intensely chocolatey but not cloyingly sweet.  It'd be great with homemade whipped cream, but I didn't have any of that, so I doused it in powdered sugar.

Also, I know I haven't updated in quite awhile. I don't want to swear I will update more, because it's always disappointing to see a blog where the last entry, made years before, is a promise that the blogger will write more. So, how often will I write? We'll see.

Anyway, next time someone asks "How do you get protein as a vegetarian?" I'll say "Chocolate cake!"

Thank You Package!

Awhile ago, I posted a blog entry about my collection of Honest Tea bottles in my garage.  (Currently I've had 12 this semester.)  I put the photo and info on here and then didn't think about it.  Well, last week I got an email from someone at Honest Tea who said they saw the post and that they wanted to send me a thank you package.  Is that not totally awesome? I was shocked and excited.

It arrived today!

Here it is! What could be inside? Tea, perhaps?

Indeed, tea! Twelve bottles!

Six bottles of unsweetened green and six bottles of unsweetened black, my favorite kinds!

Also a nice reusable shopping bag and a bracelet!

Thanks, Honest Tea!!!

Shoes

I just got myself an excellent new pair of shoes.  They're Steve Madden flats, very comfy.  And although they look like they belong at New Year's Eve parties, I think I can wear them to work with pants and a sweater.
Also, I've already broken my New Year's Resolution, reading comments on articles.  But at least I still haven't read any on Slate.

Resolution

My New Year's Resolution is seemingly small, but could be tough.  I'm no longer reading comments on articles online, unless it's on the AVClub (or on here or a friend's blog, obviously).  The comments on Slate, besides eating my time, were just making my blood boil.  I'd find myself getting mad at people I never have and never will meet.  Useless.

So here we go.  No more reading comments on Slate, or The Hairpin, or MLB, or (God forbid) Youtube, or anything else.

Money

Just a re-post of something fascinating that someone else did.  Today's XKCD comic (not really a comic today) is a visual depiction of different amounts of money. Parts are focused on Occupy Wall Street-related income disparities, parts are irreverent (cost to buy the world a Coke), parts are simply informative. It sounds weird, but look at it: Money

Lookbook

Huh. I've been poking around on Lookbook and realized I am older than everyone on there, apparently.  Also, the community in the forums seems a bit intense.  There's a lot of advice on how to get your look "hyped" and get fans.  It seems like perhaps not the best use of my time to worry about what a random fashionable nineteen-year-old in Stockholm thinks of my dress.  I do like it as a place to post photos of what I'm wearing, just for a record for myself, and to show my friends.  But trying to earn approval from strangers is really not something that interests me.
